A painful lesson...

Rocking chair surfing is never a good idea when wearing your new frog boots. This time it resulted in a big fat lip.

I heart January in Colorado!

Spending most of my childhood in upstate New York taught me about the elements. It's cold and the ground is covered in snow from October through May. The snow never melts...it's the same snow from October to May, it just changes color over time. As a kid/teenager, I guess I didn't mind. Snow=snow days and that was always okay with me. As an adult though I will admit that I have come to dislike the cold, snowy weather that I grew up with. I love my Colorado January's where it's 24 today but don't worry; tomorrow is likely to be 70. Today is actually supposed to be one of those 70 days. Does it get any better than that? I think we're going to do lunch at the park. The zoo is always a possibility though.

I realized last week that in just a few short weeks I will have lived in Colorado for 15 years. That not only is amazing but it's incredibly aging. How is it possible? I still feel like the kid living in NY but now I have grown up responsibilities. Kids to feed, bathe, clothe, entertain, play with...you get the idea. Sometimes these responsibilities take me back to when I was a kid and all the fun things I did with my parents and my siblings. I guess the weather couldn't have been all bad. We sure did a lot of fun things! I hope that my kids will look back at this time with as many happy memories as I have of my childhood.

The Butterfly Pavillion

My Smart Tart brought a butterfly book that she borrowed from the library so that she could identify the butterfly species as she saw them.
I love my boys! How could you not?

This is Rosy the Tarantula. This beautiful spider (yup, I said beautiful) cascaded across my hand before slowly meandering across that of my little girl. At that point, Daddy decided he could probably handle it too so he held her after Kaitlyn convinced him it was okay. I'm so proud of all of us!

Happy New Year!!!

May your 2009 be as bright and sunny as the smiles on these two (and may your feet be as warm and fuzzy!)!

...with shovels and snow angels for all!
